  17.       Dice is marketed as shareware.  This means you are encouraged to
  18.       freely copy and distribute this program but remember,  Shareware
  19.       is NOT free. Registration of this program is required if you use
  20.       this program past a trial period of 30 days.    To qualify for one

  46.     OBJECT OF THE GAME
  47.  
  48.       The object of this game is to remove numbers (buttons) from  the
  49.       board and increase the score using the dice rolls available.    If
  50.       one board is cleared, the game clears to a new board (except the
  51.       score, which will remain). If you are out of dice rolls the game
  52.       is over.

  55.     HOW TO PLAY
  56.  
  57.       Installation:
  58.  
  59.            To install the game, copy the file DICE.EXE to your windows
  60.            directory (Insert disk in drive A: and type
  61.             COPY A:\DICE.EXE C:\WINDOWS\DICE.EXE
  62.            and substitute the C:\WINDOWS part with your windows direc-
  63.            tory).  Start windows and from the  program manager  select
  64.            the box with Windows Applications (Click once in that box).
  65.            Select File from the program manager menu and then New.    In
  66.            the box make the Program Item active and click OK. When you
  67.            are prompted for the program name, type DICE.EXE and for  a
  68.            directory enter your windows directory. Select OK to return
  69.            all the way to the program manager.  To start the game, se-
  70.            lect the Dollar Bill icon (click twice). The game uses  the
  71.            mouse or the keyboard to play (Press number or first letter
  72.            of an option).

  74.       Rolls:
  75.  
  76.            This number will start with 4 and will be reset to 4 if the
  77.            board is reset. If both dice show the same value,  the num-
  78.            ber will be increased by 2 to a maximum of 9.  If you can't
  79.            remove any of the numbered buttons, use this button to roll
  80.            the dice again. This will deduct 1 from the number of rolls
  81.            and the game is over if you have no more rolls left. If you
  82.            can remove any numbered buttons,  the rolls  number will be
  83.            added to your score and the dice will  be rolled (no  point
  84.            deduction on the rolls number).

  88.            This option will display the  copyright    screen along  with
  89.            registration information.  Remember to win cash you must be
  90.            a registered user.

  94.            This option will reset the score to zero, the rolls to four
  95.            and will roll the dice on a brand new board (just like  you
  96.            start for the first time).  Use this option at any time you
  97.            get 'stuck'.

  99.       Exit:

  101.         Selecting Exit will end the game and return to the Windows
  102.         program manager. No high score or other settings are saved
  103.         when you leave the game.

  106.       Number Buttons:
  107.  
  108.         When the game starts, the buttons  1  through 9 are shown.
  109.         The object of the game is to clear this number buttons for
  110.         a score. You can remove the buttons by adding both dice to
  111.         one number (example: dice one shows 4 and dice two shows 3
  112.         will add up to 7).  Using this number,    you can remove one
  113.         or two buttons shown by pressing  a valid  button.  In our
  114.         sample, we could remove the 7 by pressing (or clicking) on
  115.         the 7 button. Or we could remove the  1  and  6  button by
  116.         pressing either the 1 or 6 (the other button is  automati-
  117.         cally removed). If shown, we could also remove the 2 and 5
  118.         buttons or the 3 and 4 button  combination.  If one or two
  119.         buttons are removed, the score will increase by the number
  120.         of rolls and the dice will roll again.    If all buttons are
  121.         removed from the board,  the board will reset the rolls to
  122.         4 and will display all number buttons again.  Continue the
  123.         above until you can't remove any buttons. If this happens,
  124.         use the roll option to roll the dice again (which will use
  125.         one of the rolls).  If you have zero rolls left and  can't
  126.         remove any buttons, the game is over.

  129.     ERROR MESSAGES
  130.  
  131.       If the game is already running and you try to load it again,    an
  132.       error message is displayed since  only one copy  of the game    is
  133.       allowed at any given time. Press Enter to clear the message.
  134.  
  135.       If you try to roll the dice without having rolls left,  the game
  136.       will remind you that the game is over. Press Enter to clear  the
  137.       message and select new to start a new game or select exit to end
  138.       the game.

  140.       If the total of the  dice  does not match  the button (or one of
  141.       the buttons of a button combination), the message displayed will
  142.       remind you of any mathematical problems you might have.  'Enter'
  143.       will remove the message allowing you    to select an  other button
  144.       or a button combination. To stop at this time select exit or, if
  145.       no combination can be removed and you have at least one roll    on
  146.       the board, select the roll option to roll the dice again.

  149.     COMMENTS
  150.  
  151.       The game is distributed  'AS IS'  meaning the author is not res-
  152.       ponsible for any problems  occuring  during or after    the use of
  153.       the program. Extensive testing on various  computer systems  and
  154.       components was performed before the release of this program, but
  155.       no warranties are granted that this program will work on any and
  156.       all possible combinations of hardware and software installed    in
  157.       any given system. If you encounter problems,    contact the author
  158.       for a correction (registered users only).

  160.       The trial version of this program will only function to a  score
  161.       of up to 120.  If this point is reached, the demo will exit.    To
  162.       receive the full version, registration is required.
